Bobbie is Chief Insurance Officer at Coterie - prior to this role, she was Coterie’s first VP of Distribution, and Chief Growth Officer. At Coterie, Bobbie oversees underwriting, capacity, distribution, marketing and agency experience. Prior to Coterie, Bobbie was the VP of Strategic Distribution at Grange Insurance, cultivating successful strategic partnerships with established, new and emerging distribution partners – with a strong focus on strategy and innovation. Bobbie started her insurance career as a Commercial Lines underwriter and manager at Society Insurance, and held leadership positions at QBE, SECURA, and Grange Insurance. Bobbie holds a BBA in Marketing & Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

Hemant Shah is the Co-Founder and CEO of Archipelago - an AI-driven commercial property risk platform providing real-time visibility into how to better manage risk, improve portfolio resilience, and create more value through intelligent insurance strategies and investments. Previously, Hemant co-founded RMS as a graduate student at Stanford University and grew the company to over 1,200 global employees before its acquisition in 2018. Hemant is passionate about risk and resiliency, and is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute, and part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network. Hemant supports organizations like Build Change, and the Clinton Global Initiative. Hemand holds a MS and BS in Engineering from Stanford University.

We are honored to host Julie Wood to speak to the John Street Club and Guests at our regular Luncheon Meeting on September 12, 2024.
Julie Wood is the North American CEO of QBE. Julie joined QBE in January 2023 as Group Head of Distribution and served as interim North America CEO since August, 2023. Before joining QBE, Julie worked at Marsh as Southeast Partnership & Zonal Leader and served as a member of the company’s US Executive Committee. Prior to that, she worked as their Zonal Casualty leader in Atlanta. Additionally, Julie has over 15 years of experience serving in senior executive roles at Zurich Insurance Group, including global customer relationship management and underwriting leadership. Julie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology with a concentration in Economics from the University of Michigan. She was named to Business Insurance’s Women to Watch in 2020.

Joel Wood is the President of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers. Prior to this role, Joel served CIAB as SVP of Government Affairs for over 30 years. He has been the top regulatory and government affairs officer at The Council since 1993. Joel came to Washington a decade earlier to work as a press and legislative director for Rep. Don Sundquist (R-Tenn.). Over the course of his career, Wood has been deeply engaged in many issues impacting the commercial insurance brokerage industry - from health insurance reform efforts, to terrorism reinsurance, to regulatory reforms both small and large, at both the federal and the state level - and has received numerous accolades as one of the top lobbyists in the financial services industry. Joel holds a BA in Journalism from the University of Mississippi.

Vincent C. Tizzio was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of AXIS Capital in May of 2023. He joined AXIS in January 2022 as Senior Advisor, and was appointed CEO Specialty Insurance and Reinsurance in June 2022. Prior to AXIS, Mr. Tizzio served as EVP and Head of Global Specialty at The Hartford, and had served for 7 years as President and CEO of Navigators Management Company, leading the organization until its acquisition by The Hartford in 2019. Prior to that, Mr. Tizzio worked at Zurich and AIG. Mr. Tizzio received a B.A. in finance and sociology from Adelphi University, and serves on the board of governors for Maguire Academy of Risk Management at Saint Joseph’s University and the Maurice R. Greenberg School of Risk Management at St. John’s University.

Mark is responsible for the management, development and effective performance of the company’s executive management team, sharing overall responsibility for business operations and financial results with the Chief Executive Officer. He provides guidance and oversight in setting the company’s mission, vision, strategic direction and initiatives in addition to responsibility for key stakeholder relationships. He joined Safety National in 1977 and formerly served as Chief Executive Officer, President, Chief Underwriting Officer and Executive Vice President – Underwriting. Mark holds a BS in Accounting from the University of Missouri - St. Louis, and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from St. Louis University.
